Here are some examples:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bush tax cuts did not spur economic growth or increase government revenue &#8212; they reduced revenue and growth was so-so: <a href=\"http:\/\/krugman.blogs.nytimes.com\/2010\/07\/13\/invincible-ignorance\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.halepassage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Bush-tax-cut-revenue1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-37\" title=\"Bush tax cut revenue\" src=\"http:\/\/www.halepassage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Bush-tax-cut-revenue1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"323\" height=\"265\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.halepassage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Bush-tax-cut-revenue1.jpg 323w, http:\/\/www.halepassage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Bush-tax-cut-revenue1-300x246.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 323px) 100vw, 323px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reagan&#8217;s tax cuts did not result in increased government revenue: <a href=\"http:\/\/krugman.blogs.nytimes.com\/2010\/07\/15\/carter-reagan-revenue\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.halepassage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/reaganrevenue.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-39\" title=\"reaganrevenue\" src=\"http:\/\/www.halepassage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/reaganrevenue.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"479\" height=\"407\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.halepassage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/reaganrevenue.png 479w, http:\/\/www.halepassage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/reaganrevenue-300x254.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 479px) 100vw, 479px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In other words, supply-side economics are completely wrong, and we are still on the left side of the Laffer curve (see <a href=\"http:\/\/delong.typepad.com\/sdj\/2010\/08\/where-is-the-peak-of-the-laffer-curve.html\" target=\"_blank\">this<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/DOCUME%7E1\/STEVEN%7E1\/LOCALS%7E1\/Temp\/moz-screenshot-2.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The high deficit began under Bush and is a direct result of the economic downturn, not Obama&#8217;s policies: <a href=\"http:\/\/krugman.blogs.nytimes.com\/2010\/07\/19\/the-bush-deficit-bamboozle\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/krugman.blogs.nytimes.com\/2010\/07\/19\/the-bush-deficit-bamboozle\/\"> <\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Social Security is not in trouble: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/business\/la-fi-hiltzik-20100808,0,1359956.column?track=rss&amp;utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+latimes%2Fbusiness+%28L.A.+Times+-+Business%29\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.angrybearblog.com\/search\/label\/social%20security\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Fanny and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act were minor players in the housing bubble: <a href=\"http:\/\/economistsview.typepad.com\/economistsview\/2010\/06\/it-wasnt-fannie-freddie-or-the-cra.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/krugman.blogs.nytimes.com\/2010\/06\/03\/things-everyone-in-chicago-knows\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The effects of wars, Bush tax cuts, the economic down turn, and the recovery measures on projected future deficits: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbpp.org\/cms\/index.cfm?fa=view&amp;id=3036\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.halepassage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Deficit-causes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38\" title=\"Deficit causes\" src=\"http:\/\/www.halepassage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Deficit-causes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"301\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.halepassage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Deficit-causes.jpg 301w, http:\/\/www.halepassage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Deficit-causes-246x300.jpg 246w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 301px) 100vw, 301px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One way I intend to use this blog is to present links to economic or political sites and data that I think are relevant.
